Divine Feline: A Mobile Spay/Neuter/Veterinary Clinic

In April 2003, RMACA joined forces with Divine Feline, a nonprofit, mobile spay/neuter clinic for feral, stray, and low-income owned pets. Thanks to the compassion and dedication of one of Denver's very own veterinarians, Dr. Erica Rambus, we now have another ally in our struggle to end feral cat overpopulation and save thousands of future cats from life on the streets. For more information about Divine Feline, visit their website at www.divinefeline.org.

Veterinary Services for Large Cat Colonies

When RMACA receives calls for help with large feral cat colonies (10+ cats), we schedule the mobile clinic to go directly to the scene. The clinic will show up on the specified date with veterinarian Dr. Erica Rambus, a vet technician and an experienced trapper. We trap the cats and bring them directly into the mobile clinic. Dr. Rambus will provide FIV/FeLV testing, spay/neuter, and FVRCP/rabies vaccinations for all feral cats. We hold all feral and unowned cats overnight to ensure that they come out of surgery safely, and then release them back to their home territories the following day. This service is provided at no charge to the public, although we greatly appreciate donations!

If you are interested in having the clinic come to a specific location, please call us at 303-202-3516. Please keep in mind: we only run the clinic on Tuesdays from 9am-3pm. The cats must have a guaranteed food source (i.e., someone must be feeding/willing to continue feeding them on a regular basis). The cats need to be on a morning feeding schedule (when you call we can chat with you about the details). And finally, we really try to reserve the clinic for colonies of 10 or more cats (but if there are only 8 or 9, we might be able to squeeze you in).

Low-Cost Procedures for Low-Income Cat Owners

The clinic also welcomes low-income cat owners. If you know of someone in need of low-cost spay/neuter services, please let them know about Divine Feline. We are suggesting the following donations for services offered at the mobile clinic:
  • FIV/FeLV testing - $15
  • Spay (for female cats) - $20
  • Neuter (for male cats) - $20
If a cat owner cannot afford to pay the above suggested donations, we will not turn them away, but we will be able to provide only the spay or neuter procedure at no charge.

Guidelines for submitting cats:
  • All cats must be dropped off between 9:30-10:30 am. Most cats are ready to be picked up between 2-3 pm the same day, but we can be more specific about pick-up times when the cat is dropped off in the morning.
  • For all cats 12 weeks and older -- NO FOOD AFTER 7 PM THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY. Water is OK.
  • For all kittens under 12 weeks -- NO FOOD AFTER 6 AM THE DAY OF SURGERY Water is OK.
  • All cats/kittens must be in a cat-carrier, trap, box, or similar enclosure. Be sure to label the carrier with your name and the cat's name.
If you know of someone who could use these services, please call 303-623-0765 and select Option 2 to find out where we'll be.

Volunteers needed for spay/neuter van!

We are very much in need of volunteers to help out with the clinic. If you are interested in helping out, please call 303-202-3516. Trapping experience is a plus, but not necessary.
