Maintaining a Feral Cat Colony

Maintaining a feral cat colony can be a very rewarding experience. If you have general questions about feral cats please review our FAQ. If you are aware of an unspayed, unneutered cat colony, please consider following Trap, Neuter and Return procedures in order to help keep the cat population under control.

If you have already made sure the feral cats in your area have been neutered or spayed, you are ready to help maintain a colony. Remember, the notion that cats can "survive on their own" is a tragic myth that results in millions of unsocialized cats breeding, suffering and dying in perpetuity. Even the wildest ones rely on humans to survive. An estimated 125,000 feral cats reside in the Denver metro area.

Here you will find resources for helping your feral friends have the best possible lives.

Success Story

"Since I started feeding the female (probably abandoned when young herself and now a feral), other ferals started coming to our yard. Tearach loaned me two traps and walked me through the process. She provided me with the van schedule and I was able to trap and neuter three males that spring." more >
