Supplies that You Will Need for Your New Cat or Kitten

  • A sturdy cat carrier (not cardboard)
  • Dry and canned cat or kitten food (kittens need kitten food until they are a year old)
  • Cat litter (no clumping litter for kittens)
  • A litter box (at least one for each cat or kitten) and scoop
  • At least one scratching post or tower
  • Nail clippers
  • Cat toys (nothing small enough that a cat or kitten can swallow)
  • Ceramic or stainless steel food and water bowls (plastic bowls are not recommended as they can hold bacteria)
  • And most importantly, patience, love, and a calm environment. It may take anywhere from two to eight weeks for a cat or kitten to start feeling secure in his or her new home.

Success Story

"We adopted Oprah and Griffin about a year ago and we love them. We can't imagine being without them. They are doing very well. Griffy found a best friend with our other cat, Sam." more >
